“Best of the West” Antique Equipment Show is put on by the Rossi Foundation and the Paso Robles Pioneer Day Committee, both non-profit organizations located in San Luis Obispo, California. Other participants include the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club and the California Agriculture Museum.
Hosted at the historic headquarters of Santa Margarita Ranch, the Paso Robles Pioneer Day Committee and the Rossi Foundation present a show that celebrates the history of the equipment that built infrastructure and defended freedom around the world. The event features historic military aircraft and vehicles, a steam train (including the original passenger cars from Disneyland), agricultural equipment that helped feed generations of families, earth movers that built roads, cities, and seaports around the world; plus hit and miss engines, pumps, and threshers. There will be classic automobiles and of course, the “original” engine: horse and mule teams.
In 2010, the Paso Robles Pioneer Day Committee and the Rossi Foundation teamed up with the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association to create the original event, which was well received and brought back in 2015, after requests from the public.
Memorial Day weekend gives us a unique opportunity to celebrate everything that is wonderful about America. Each day there will be educational discussions about the equipment, tractor parades, aircraft fly-overs, and a salute to veteran and active military personnel every day at noon.
